Randall L. Attkisson
Mr. Attkisson is a founding Partner of Bluegrass Capital Advisors, an Investment firm serving the financial and asset management needs of Individuals, Businesses and Institutions. Mr. Attkisson has achieved great success through a 40 year career in the financial industry. As a founding member Mr. Attkisson served as Chief Financial Officer of First Southern Bancorp and President of United Trust Group (a publicly traded life insurance holding company), he was responsible for overseeing the financial health of a company with combined assets exceeding $1 billion. Over the past twenty years, Mr. Attkisson has been directly involved in purchasing loans from FSLIC, RTC, Banks, and Brokers with a primary concentration in first REM on commercial real estate. He has been a member of the due diligence team reviewing over $4 billion in loans and purchasing over $500 million. While CFO, Mr. Attkisson had extensive oversight of all bank investments. The investments were primarily fixed income totaling over $400 million, along with equities, real estate, resource land, oil & gas, and timberland. He had direct involvement in acquiring 10 banks, S&L’s, and 2 insurance holding companies with multiple life insurance company subsidiaries. Mr. Attkisson served 2 years as State Banking Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. During his time as commissioner he regulated all state chartered banks, S&L’s, credit unions, finance companies, and all state securities filings and enforcement (Blue Sky Laws). As of July 2008, Mr. Attkisson retired as CFO of First Southern Bancorp and President of Universal Guaranty. He continues his involvement serving on the board of directors of both as well as the asset liability and investment committees. Since June 2012, Mr. Attkisson serves as board chairman of the Isaiah House, a Christ-centered, long-term residential treatment center for alcohol and drug addiction for both men and women located in Willisburg, Kentucky. Mr. Attkisson received his Bachelor’s degree (1971) and MBA (1975), graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisville.
